What type(s) of care do people need most?
Thank you for responding to our poll! We asked you what types of non-medical care that you or your loved ones needed most from caregivers and here are the consolidated responses:
Food preparation was the largest need, followed closely by help with cleaning. We've found that many not only need help with preparing food for lunch and dinner, but that having a companion for meals also provides a great benefit, especially when loved ones can't be there due to work or for other reasons. Cleaning can of course be difficult due to the amount of movement that it requires. In addition, we've found that the two together can be a struggle (after all, after a meal is made, cleaning is involved).
Many of those who selected "Other" mentioned that they hired caregivers for help with transportation, such as to make appointments or run errands.
